- Rapper, songwriter, director and now modern day storyteller, Plan B demonstrates the full extent of his talents on the intelligent, challenging and inspiring The Defamation Of Strickland Banks.
Having stormed into public prominence with his awesome debut, 'Who Needs Actions When You Got Words', the much anticipated follow-up has been four years in the making. Swapping rapping for more conventional singing methods, the album tells the story of a sharp-suited soul singer who loses everything. With the tale being told in the form of both nuggets of lyrical genius and Motown grooves, songwriter Ben Drew is in outstanding form throughout. Spearheaded by singles "The Recluse" and "She Said", the album successfully delivers the concept without ever sacrificing a good melody, building to a tense, thrilling conclusion.
Continually pushing the boundaries, Plan B is an invigorating and hugely adventurous talent, and The Defamation Of Strickland Banks is his finest work yet.

.I heard "She Said" on tv and though aye aye, whats this bloke all about then? Did a bit of mooching around and discovered probably 1 of the best albums I have ever purchased.
Very refreshing compared to what's around today ie: manufactured rubbish fromn tv shows. A very soulful, melodic voice (a bit like Terence Trent D'Arby in fact) and great tempo changes during the tracks. I don't like rap at all but the few bits on the album seem to fit perfectly. I haven't heard anything else Plan B has done but if he can move from rap to this then he must be quite a talent. Great voice and not 1 bad track , all songs are the business. Best fiver I have spent in ages and it's not been off the ipod since. Buy it now, you won't be disappointed.
This is an absolutely brilliant album! I Love the way that Plan B tells this extraordinary tale of Strickland Banks from track 1 right until track 13. GENIUS. Should definitely win best album this year at the Brits!
Don't get me wrong, this is a great album. But he just doesn't rap on it enough for me. Nothing like his first album, which I loved! But worth a listen by all means.
Wanted to like it, singles weren't bad and read sooo many five star reviews I took a punt. Not a bad album, but found his voice a bit whingey after a while and when he stopped to "rap" there was at least some comic relief. Does he want to be Amy Winehouse or The So Solid Crew? I'm not sure...
A fabulous compilation of soulful songs that will have you singing along to in no time - lots of motown under tones which make this soulful collection a real winner. My favourite is the beautfiul ballad "I know a song" - Buy buy buy! You won't be disappointed!
